Who we are
Alpaca Guru is operated by Byte Ventures IO AB ("we", "us"). This policy explains how we process personal information when you use the Alpaca Guru mobile app and related support services.
Information you provide
We process account information such as your email address, account identifier, display name and, if you add one, profile image. We also process the content you choose to add to the app: farm and team information; animal, lineage, breeding, health, paddock, map, task and activity records; photos; and support or feedback you send us. Team and cross-farm features process the relationship information needed to invite members and request or approve a shared reference.
Information generated when you use the app
We process authentication and session information, device push-notification tokens when you enable notifications, and app-usage analytics. The Farm Map requests foreground location only if you grant permission, to show and centre your position; it is not used in the background. The app can keep a local offline cache and supported pending changes on your device until they sync.
Alpaca Advisor
When you use Alpaca Advisor, your question and the relevant app context you choose or the service needs to answer it are processed by our server and AI service providers. Advisor responses are general educational information, not veterinary advice. Do not use the Advisor for emergencies; contact a veterinarian for an animal that may be ill, injured or in distress.
How we use information
We use information to operate and secure the app; authenticate you; store and synchronise records; enable teams, consented cross-farm references, notifications and maps; provide support; improve reliability and usability; and provide the Advisor and any subscription service that you choose to use.
Service providers and storage
We use service providers to operate the app. Supabase provides account authentication and the source-of-truth application database. Google Firebase provides Firestore mirrors and offline sync, custom-token access, Cloud Storage for uploaded photos, Cloud Messaging for optional push notifications, and Analytics. Mapbox provides Farm Map tiles and related map services. RevenueCat and Apple process subscription purchases and restore information when paid subscriptions are offered or used. When you use Alpaca Advisor, our server and AI service providers process the request to provide the feature.
Access and security
Access to farm data is controlled by farm roles and server-side authorisation. Supabase is the source of truth for farm records; Firestore mirrors are protected by Firebase rules. We use service providers’ security controls, including encryption in transit. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
Retention and deletion
We retain account and farm data while your account is active. You can delete your account in the app at Settings → Account → Delete account. The in-app flow is online-only and requires your current password plus the typed confirmation DELETE.
Deletion begins immediately once confirmed and cannot be undone. It removes your account, profile and memberships, plus farms and farm data you solely own; the app signs you out when deletion completes. For a shared farm where you are the last admin, you must first transfer admin to an existing member or explicitly delete that shared farm. Other farms’ records remain theirs; an external reference to an animal that is no longer available is shown as unavailable rather than silently replaced. Server-side cleanup can show as pending while it completes; the app does not ask you to repeat the deletion request.
Deleting your account does not cancel an Apple subscription. Manage or cancel Apple billing in your App Store subscription settings.
Your choices and rights
You can update account and farm information in the app, control notification and location permissions in device settings, and delete your account through the in-app flow above. For privacy questions or applicable rights requests, contact us below. Data export is not currently offered in the app.
Children
Alpaca Guru is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
